Meet the Team

Jesse graduated from Central Michigan University with a degree in Logistics Management & Marketing, but chose to follow his passion for equines and pursue a career in horse training. After extensive experience in the hunter/jumper and eventing world, he settled into dressage, training and competing in both the USA and Germany. He has worked most recently as an FEI dressage trainer based in Southeast Michigan, with riders and horses of all levels.

Jesse offers dressage training tailored to the specific needs of each horse and rider, from novice through Grand Prix. He is especially devoted to bringing the horse up through the levels in the “Classical” method. At the same time, Jesse works carefully with each rider, helping them to develop a good seat, sensitive hands, and a natural “feel” for the movements and temperament of the horse, the ultimate goal being sympathetic communication between horse and rider.

Jesse offers individual, part or full training for horses and/or riders of any level. He is also available to give clinics, coach at shows, compete with client’s horses, and to provide advice and assistance in selecting an equine partner.

Greg, a nationally recognized trainer and rider from Clarkston, Michigan comes to the Hunt Club three times a week to work with his students and horses. Greg has enjoyed tremendous success in the show ring and in bringing along ‘green prospects’.  Greg showed as a junior rider before going on to compete on the IHSA team at Cazenovia College and graduating with degrees in Equine Management and Business Adminstration. After college he worked for John Madden and Rob Bielfeld and in 1996 he moved his business, then named Top Call Farm, to the Bloomfield Open Hunt Club.

Jessica Hogan Crolick was an owner, instructor and trainer for Top Call Farm. She has a degree in Psychology and has worked as a substitute teacher as well as in Human Resources at Ford Motor Company. Jessica specializes in giving young riders confidence as they acquire riding skills. She teaches beginning riders as well as children participating in top national shows. Jessica and Greg have been married since 2009 and have two children.

Karen manages our ‘home school’ program and teaches on Monday, Wednesday and Fridays to students on their own horses as well as the GPEC’s school horses.  Her instruction gives confidence to beginning and young riders. She particularly enjoys working with adult riders just returning to the sport or those who thought they wouldn’t be able to enjoy riding again. She has a special ability to intuit different techniques to help individual riders move forward in their riding aspirations.

Karen grew up on the east coast learning to ride at a very early age as her mother rode almost daily. She began her formal riding instruction at Thorncroft Stables on the Philadelphia mainline. She rode and showed junior hunters and enjoyed discovering each horses special potential.

Karen attends the B and C shows in Michigan with her students and works hard to make riding and showing accessible for all who might be interested. When she isn’t riding, teaching or with her family, she can be found kayaking on the St Claire River and environs.
